I didn't realize aweber allowed single opt-in. I use getresponse and they claim you must use double opt in or I wont be CAN-SPAM complaint. Maybe I'll have to switch. But one way I was able to reduce my spam complaints was to put a notice at the very top of the email, before any email content, that says something along these lines: ------------------------------------------------------- You are receiving this message because you have visited my site and requested to be contacted or have purchased my product. If you no longer wish to be contacted, please use the the following link: [removal link] ------------------------------------------------------- I found that by doing this, I was able to significantly drop my spam complaints. Usually people who think its spam get frustrated because they can't find the unsubscribe link easily, and putting it at the very top solves this problem. I learned its better to lose a few subscribers, that to have an unacceptable spam rate and get blacklisted or banned from the email service.
