Wow! I never thought the day would come when I would have a blog with my name as the URL, but I guess it had to happen. My full name is Folusho Orokunle and I’ve been messing around with the internet for 17 years now. Of course a lot of that time I was a teenager and could care less about using the internet to make money or start a business with the internet. But over the past 10 years I’ve become very good at what I do. First I was good at the technical side of computers and the internet but when I realized that I had to be a “super nerd” in order to get a descent job I started looking for the other options. I don’t have anything against the guys and gals that are really smart and know how to do all the technical stuff, I just didn’t get any enjoyment out of it. What I always tell people now when I’m doing consulting is that you should try to do something that you’ll have passion about because in the end if you don’t love what you do, you’ll lose the drive to continue doing it.
Once I realized that being one of those tech guys that hide in the back of offices wasn’t what I wanted to do, I dove head first into the sales world. And after selling product for three different companies, I finally came to the end of working for anyone. Being a sales person wasn’t that hard for me because I was good at it. I was so good that I was the number one sales rep for AOL/ Time Life in 2001. I generated over five thousand sales by myself that year but of course I only got ten percent of that:-(. I eventually got burned out but I thank God everyday for giving me that opportunity because it helped me realize that I could really do anything if I put in the effort. So anyway, I decided to work for one of those online universities next, but by this time I had already started making a few bucks online with my internet business. So I was basically counting the days until I would quit torturing myself and really focus my attention on my small internet business. I had it all planned out, I would save of ten thousand dollars then go in full time as an internet marketer. But you probably already know that things don’t always go as planned.
Since I stayed up until 1 AM everyday working on my internet marketing business, I started coming in to work later and later. The straw that broke the camel’s back was the fact that I had to leave the country to attend my Grandmother’s funeral in Nigeria, so all this coming to work late was about to cost me my job and it did. I actually felt really bad when my boss fired me, I thought I would be happy but I wasn’t. But if I could talk to my boss now I tell him: “Nick, thank you for helping me make a decision that I would have never made at that time because it changed my life forever”.
So in conclusion, this blog is going to be about anything and everything but the central focus will be about starting or expanding a small business with the internet and different internet marketing ideas.
